The Balanced Equation
Welcome to The Balanced Equation!
Hello there, and welcome to The Balanced Equation—the friendly blog where data meets dharma, and we try to make sense of life’s beautiful mess, one spreadsheet/decision and yoga pose at a time. I’m the Yogi CFO, your guide on this journey, and I’m thrilled you’re here. Whether you’ve wandered in looking for a little balance, a dose of inspiration, or just some good old-fashioned humor about life’s ups and downs, you’re in the right place.
What Inspired This Blog?
Honestly? I got tired of pretending that the different sides of me couldn’t sit at the same table. For the longest time, I felt like I had to pick a lane: be the number-crunching, budget-balancing professional who had it all under control, or the free-spirited yogi searching for inner peace. Turns out, trying to fit yourself into a single box is exhausting—and pretty boring.
So, The Balanced Equation was born out of my decision to let these parts of myself coexist. I’m a yogi, yes, but I’m also a CFO at heart—someone who loves to optimize, analyze, and yes, even color-code my life. I believe we can be both practical and profound, both data-driven and dharma-seeking. And that’s what this space is all about: finding ways to nurture and grow all aspects of ourselves, while finding humor in the chaos along the way.
My Journey
My journey so far has been a series of reinventions. From raising kids to navigating the empty nest, from balancing ledgers to balancing on one leg in yoga class, and from career-driven pursuits to finally asking myself, “What do I really want now?”—it’s been a wild ride. And let’s not forget the delights of post-menopause—those lovely hot flashes that seem to strike right when I’m trying to meditate. Thanks, universe!
As the Yogi CFO, I’m on a mission to embrace both sides of myself. I love solving problems, finding patterns, and making sense of numbers. I also love the feel of a deep breath bringing me back to center, the stretch of a yoga pose, and the quiet insights that come from simply sitting with myself. I’ve learned that growth happens not when we compartmentalize but when we let our parts work together—when we track our habits and meditate on the meaning of it all, when we budget with intention and allow room for spontaneity.
The Vision for The Balanced Equation
My vision for The Balanced Equation is simple: to create a space where we can all explore our own complexities, laugh at our quirks, and celebrate our contradictions. If you love a good spreadsheet but also find joy in the stillness of a yoga mat, you’re my kind of person. If you’re trying to find purpose beyond the roles you’ve played so far, I get it—and I hope this blog gives you a little comfort and inspiration for the journey.
Here, I’ll be sharing everything from reflections on midlife transitions (spoiler: it’s not all bad) to practical tools for integrating data and dharma. There will be mood charts (because tracking emotions is both fascinating and hilarious), breathing exercises to find calm before diving into a daunting budget, and some real talk about the beauty and absurdity of it all. I’ll even share my missteps—like the time I tried to use my yoga block as a laptop stand because “multitasking.”
My goal? To nurture and grow all aspects of who I am. To be the yogi who can still geek out over a pie chart, the CFO who isn’t afraid to get a little woo-woo, and the person who finds humor in every bump along the road. Because let’s face it, this balancing act we call life can be ridiculous—but that’s what makes it worth exploring.
Why Balance Matters Now
At this stage of life, balance is no longer a “nice-to-have”—it’s a necessity. I’m embracing all the pieces of who I am, even when they don’t seem to fit neatly together. Life after menopause, life without kids at home, life in this new phase—it’s all about finding a new equilibrium. It’s about recalibrating, about discovering what brings joy and purpose when the old roles have shifted. And for me, it’s about balancing the structure of data with the intuition of dharma.
I want this blog to be a space where we can share ideas, laugh at our attempts to find balance, and celebrate every little victory along the way. Whether you’re here to pick up a practical tip, find some inspiration, or just hear a story that makes you feel a little less alone, I hope you find something that resonates.
Let’s Get Balanced (Or At Least Have Fun Trying)
So, welcome to The Balanced Equation—the place where the Yogi CFO takes you on a journey through the joys, struggles, and laughter of balancing data with dharma. Grab your favorite mug (tea, coffee, maybe something stronger—we don’t judge here), settle in, and let’s figure out how to grow and thrive by embracing every quirky, wonderful, contradictory part of who we are.
This journey is all about finding the balance that works for each of us—and if we stumble, well, we’ll just laugh, get back up, and keep going. After all, growth isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being real.
